Tesla Charging Stations Installed Near The Old Nob Hill Foods In Citrus Plaza On Oak Grove Rd. In Walnut Creek

About 10 Tesla charging stations were surprisingly installed this week in the Citrus Plaza shopping center on Oak Grove Rd. (just north of Ygnacio) in Walnut Creek.

The shopping center was home to Nob Hill Foods before they closed early last year.

The charging stations are along the Citrus Ave. part of the center, closer to the old Nob Hill.

The old Nob Hill Foods building, which is about 38,000-square-feet, is still for lease.

Why do you care how much rent the property owner earns from the arrangement? Most real property leasing and licensing terms between private parties are not disclosed publicly.

Just nosey?

Funny, I don’t see any solar panels or windmills in the picture.

They use electricity…powered by natural gas… mined from below oil and coal deposits. LMAO … “Green” is ___ __ ____….. insert your words at will! When cars, buses and planes can run “partly cloudy, with soft Spring breezes… they’ll be efficient and “green.”

At night when wind isn’t blowing they could maybe mine some low grade coal left in old Nortonville mine to generate electricity.

We should pass a law that requires electric cars to be charged by green energy only. Seem fair to me.

Or perhaps electric cars should be required to have a number sticker that says “This car is fueled by Natural Gas”

This is a new form of discrimination and elitism!!!

I thought I read that piece of property is slated to become assisted living? Which is why BofA is building across the street and vacating. Seems strange to invest in these charging stations if that is the case, so I either misunderstood or plans have fallen through. (or they plan on the elderly having Teslas)

SG January 27, 2023 - 8:32 AM - 8:32 AM

why don’t they invest in helping homeless get off the streets and especially those with pets. Very sad.

Mg January 25, 2023 - 11:52 AM - 11:52 AM

Great news. They probably should install a coffee shop or something too. Solar panels coming soon!!

Typical “green” infrastructure being forced into place without regard to actual need or practicality.

And on another note.. I wonder how many people who use these charging stations realize the electricity they are charging with was just generated by burning natural gas

“Green” is just an illusion anyway. It’s so a few can profit at the expense of the many. That said, there are some good alternate energy solutions but they are spurned by the profit makers.

And I heard parking is only for two hours.

At today’s high copper prices, I wonder if some individuals are already scoping out how to “mine” these stations for later sales to recyclers. Definitely more green way of producing copper than open pit mining. See, it is environmentally friendly.

Lifeline for dying on the vine neighborhood shopping centers.
Assuring shop owners a captive source of proven impulse buyers.

Based on your comment OG, I wonder if this portends that that entire lot/center will become one large ev charging center, installing charging stations like they did speakers at a drive in. That ought to be a nice look.

domo January 25, 2023 - 3:42 PM - 3:42 PM

…and what was Tesla’s motivation for installing them? ….. a fitness gym was going in the Raley’s space but they pulled out… existing shops in the area won’t have the business to support them imho

The Wizard January 25, 2023 - 5:34 PM - 5:34 PM

The homeless will be taping in for free power.

Luke January 25, 2023 - 8:14 PM - 8:14 PM

I thought I heard a rumor LA Fitness was opening up there. That was a few months ago so who knows if that has changed since then.

domo January 26, 2023 - 8:03 AM - 8:03 AM

…yes, they pulled out of the deal
