cannot pick any as I have never had either. Thank you for allowing me to waste your time with a nonanswer, as is my wont…. I do like your questions @S, just can’t answer this one.

@S
A) Hawaiian
I haven’t heard of either, had to look them up and decided that the Hawaiian looked tastier. (Congrats on being first again). 🙂

Who decided it was a good idea to put a Starbucks drive thru in the intersection treat/clayton road?? I swear it gets suuper busy and sometimes the line even blocks the road and intersection. 🤦🤦🤦🤦

MG,
.
When this Starbucks was first proposed in August of 2014 many of us posted comments right here on Claycord about the traffic problems this location would cause. I wish I was able to find the Claycord article in the archives so I could post a link.

Wait until Dutch Bros. Coffee drive thru opens on Clayton Road.

Captain Bebops October 7, 2023 - 4:41 PM - 4:41 PM

Interesting because today when I drove by the Martinez Dutch Bros I noticed it has calmed down a bit. For weeks there was a long line going in but today going downtown about 10 AM there was one car in the line and returning from downtown around 12 PM only a few cars. Maybe the novelty has warn off and will have normal traffic from now on.

Book report: Whipping Star, Frank Herbert,1969. Bit sadistic antics in parts of this one. This has at least one familiar name and type of alien so it may be part of a mini series. This one is mostly how language can be confusing to both the human and the alien. Very little connection between them, their words, or the way they use them yet understanding content and connection is vital. The in’s and out’s of this one can be a bit mind twisting.

Jeff (the other one) October 6, 2023 - 8:50 PM - 8:50 PM

I have personally eaten about 3 bags worth of candy corn and those mallow pumpkins. all this while trying to lose weight.

On a related note: I am digging all the houses with Halloween decorations. Still will have to hit the area in Discovery Bay (Powell) Dr. J had mentioned. working on my own. Trying to get an Axworthy ghost going. Been unsuccessful the last 2 years. How is this for talking about “whatever?”

Guy disappeared while swimming up near Point Reyes after other folks saw a large shark. Article said he was an expert water sportsman with years of experience. Really? Expert? Swimming dressed in a seal suit at Point Reyes in September? Sure …expert.

You can spend a fortune on very fine Swiss or German rifle scopes. And if you have the money, great. It’s fine glass. But I buy Nikon. Unfortunately they stopped making rifle scopes a few years ago but there’s a strong secondary market. I buy them up and so should you. ProStaff or Monarch. Make a tight littlex48 spotting scope I’m getting real fond of too. Doesn’t come with a stand or a hard case though.

It’s full busy weekend of events for those of us in the Sierra. Today in Carson City is the Halloween Wine Walk with a costume contest, Vintage Market at Due Sorrella and a fabulous gallery showing at Artsy Fartsy Gallery.

Today and tomorrow in Virginia City are the annual Outhouse Races. It is a fun crazy event that should be on everyone’s bucket list

Today in Gardnerville is a fall festival with coffin races

In Reno is the Fall Festival and Pumpkin Throw.

And finally at Palisades Tahoe is the Made in Tahoe Festival today and tomorrow.

Definitely something for everyone happening in this fabulous region

Anything fun or interesting going on in Claycord?

Concord PD is whack. Guy checking cars in Newhall Park Saturday morning. Call non EM line. PD shows up 45 minutes later. Go to get gas after soccer, and guy I see drop shopping cart full of toilet paper he just stole from Safeway on denkinger onto clayton rd. I call non EM line again voicing frustration. They don’t care. What are police for if they aren’t going to respond? I back the blue but come on. California laws gotta stop protecting criminals so the PD can do their jobs. Ancient Mariner October 7, 2023 - 8:44 PM - 8:44 PM

I caught a glimpse of one, didn’t look sleek like a Blue Angel, more like an F-35, stubby and odd-looking, heading south over DVC. Anybody know what it was? It wasn’t using its transponder.

Captain Bebops October 8, 2023 - 12:31 PM - 12:31 PM

It was not the Blue Angels but probably the Air Force’s version of them. But from the picture I saw elsewhere it was the same kind of jet that went flying by on Weds when I stepped outside in the evening. After that I looked it up and indeed the Air Force has it’s own flying precision team that does promo appearances. The plane on Weds was probably flying out of Travis.

Ricardoh October 8, 2023 - 1:01 PM - 1:01 PM

My wife and I were just watching the news of missiles flying around Israel when two jets went over our house at a low elevation. Unbelievably loud. I jumped out of my chair and got a glimpse of them leaving. They were not blue angels. Scared the heck out of both of us. We recovered. Then they came back going the other way.

Hanne Jeppesen October 9, 2023 - 12:16 PM - 12:16 PM

I heard and saw one lone jet on Saturday night. I agree didn’t look like one of the Blue Angels (have gone into San Francisco several times to see them), but seems reasonable to assume it was part of Fleet Week.
