West of gun range on Evora Rd.
Road leading into facility has guard post.
Looked at aerial Pics, looks like pipelines and what might be well heads ?
Tried looking at sign on street view and it won’t show it.
Anyone know company name ?

That whole huge hill is PG&E’s Underground Gas Storage facility. I’ve worked on their compressors in the 90s.
Millions of cubic feet of Natural Gas in those hills!

People should be thankful for these flares. They are a safety mechanism. If they didn’t flare pressure would build up and they could explode killing a bunch of people.

Flairs seem to be the thing these days.

That is the PG&E Los Medanos Facility which is a natural gas facility.

We must not be using enough natural gas trying to be good citizens and freezing in our homes to avoid absurd energy bills because government and our utility was not pro-active (or were in a negative way).

An abundance of natural energy? Who wudda thunk it? Sheesh, and PG&E is pushing for rate hikes galore. They treat these flares like it was public enemy #1.

Found this, ‘PG&E Natural Gas Storage Facilities’
Appears there’s 21 wells up there.

OG: Very interesting. Thanks for sharing. I was just an Equipment Mechanic in the Diablo area in the late 90’s.

Natural gas flaring is pretty benign.

Anyone remember seeing drill rigs on Willow Pass in late 1960s early 1970s?
Could see their lights for night time operations?

This is why “progressives” want to ban natural gas and gas appliances in homes. We have an abundance of natural gas in the USA meaning we are not dependent on other countries. We export natural gas to 46 countries at present which helps our trade balance. https://www.eia.gov/energyexplained/natural-gas/imports-and-exports.php

It’s been a strangely “secret” tucked away place… When did it “appear” — did anyone see all that construction and noise and all the traffic? Thanks Bay Point… great tax revenue… County all hush-hush?

Will the Bay Area Air Quality Management District issue violations to PG&E like they did to
Chevron refinery in Richmond for the same reason? I don’t think so.
