Cowellian’s first.
We’re wet but doing better than a lot of folks are.

Nice, balmy late summer weather, here. Actually kind of hot, walking up on a hill in Alamo.
Glad you’re doing OK, Cowellian!

The storm never got here. We have had over 4.5″ of rain, so maybe our drought is over.
North Carolina and East Tennessee really took a battering, though, with flooding and mud slides. I-40 washed out at the NC/TN border and several dams are facing imminent collapse. Many homes and businesses have been destroyed, and I haven’t heard about loss of life, yet.

Joke

I am shopping around for an apple self driving car. I just hope the apple car comes with a window!

Original G:
How did you get into my house to take all those pictures?

# 2, the stepping chair, was invented by Benjamin Franklin because he was tired of bringing out the ladder every time he wanted something from the top shelf. Franklin said he was lazy, and invented things to make his life easier. By the time he was 80, climbing on the chair got to be too much for him, so he invented the long arm grabber to retrieve things from the top shelf.

I love discovering a song I didn’t know from a band I love, or re-discovering a song I forgot about. My latest is ’39, by Queen. One of the rare Queen songs sung by another band member.
It always pays to go back and peruse the albums.
What’s your favorite new music discovery?

Not REALLY new, but the latest that I’ve become a big fan of: Joe Bonamassa.

Joe is incredible. He mentions Frank Marino as a major influence. Check out “Real Live” or “Live at the Agora”; the guy is unbelievable.

Marino, and Mahogany Rush, definitely have Jimi as an influence.

I had a tiny cup of of Turkish coffee with Jimmy Ayoub and what may have been Franks brother Vince in the middle of the night at Gatwick in 1987 at a tiny little table with Pollizei with dogs and MP-5s loosely slung wondering about in between tables and giving everyone the stink-eye.
One of my few and admittedly humble brushes with celebrity. Incredibly nice to an American GI for a Canadian. Didn’t pay for my coffee though, but not like I would have let him.
Also got into and argument with Tom Wopat at an NCO club in Germany he was kind enough to visit In support of the troops. That was also 1987. Can’t remember what we were arguing about though, that kinda sucks. He’s got pretty eyes. 😘🤭😝

I said Gatwick, I meant Frankfurt.

I believe Joe was called up on stage to play with BB King when he was like, 11. He recently did an interview with Rick Beato (look for it, Rick’s interviews are usually an hour and all about the music). At Christmas, my Christmas playlist is kicked off with Joe’s “O’ Holy Night,” where he absolutely channels Jeff Beck. I know I have mentioned this on this board before. Joe does a blues cruise every year too. I plan on taking one of those at retirement.

I’ve read about him opening for BB King at 12 or 13. Here’s one of his songs from a live show at the Greek Theater 8 years ago that I never get tired of https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HW9qLOfHabI That is part of a double CD set that is killer. Here’s another one of Joe playing at a sold out Royal Albert Hall when Eric Clapton joined him for one song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h5aVK70P88k Arguably the two best guitar players in the world today playing together. Amazing!

Going to go see Joe Bonamassa at the GSR on Nov 9

Well Folks
And what, pray tell, is GSR?

An old song that was done by many bands is Man Of Constant Sorrow. Blackberry Smoke does a really good version on this link. They really get going around the 2 minute mark. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4JbAMyLToeI&pp=ygUnbWFuIG9mIGNvbnN0YW50IHNvcnJvdyBibGFja2JlcnJ5IHNtb2tl

Not to hijack the music thread, but Lee Michaels is now doing a podcast. Admittedly he is a little pickled as you might expect, but has some great stories. Like the time an unknown rock group opened up for him at the Whisky and blew the roof off the place. Yes it was Van Halen. Imagine following that……

Came across this video of wrong way, of extension cord storage.

https://dailytimewaster.blogspot.com/2024/09/boink.html
.
Coiling extension cords enough times like that video you can end up with a twisted cord plus you can end up with a tangled cord. Method in second video was taught me by a railroad electrician. Used method for many years when pulling individual wires thru conduit runs by myself. Eliminates having to stop, go back to staring end to untangle snarls.
.
First time you find middle of extension cord, do multiple wraps of electrical tape, enables you to quickly find middle of cord next time.

Even though I grew up in Nashville, I was never a Country Music fan,

until Kristofferson.

Thanks for all the music, Kris, and Rest in Peace.

Discovery of the Rosetta Stone in 1799 with same text written in Hieroglyphic,  Demotic and  Ancient Greek allowing hieroglyphics to be understood. Waiting for a modern day Rosetta Stone to decipher my Grandson’s text messages.
.
Found this, now we can now get even with Grand kids, ‘Old folks text shortcuts…’

What is with Safeway and their stupid digital coupons, their app ain’t going on my phone as it’s garbage and spyware trying to get all your personal info to register you in the app.

Safeway even tried telling my my member rewards number wasn’t a cell number but a old land line one and I needed to change it to my cell..gee I wonder why!

this won’t post till morning time… but I just want to say:
It’s October. It’s 1:39 am. It’s still 73 degrees out there.
😳

When peak winds drop below 8 mph and aren’t from west it gets hot and pollution levels go up.
