I shave my head myself. No reason to go to a barber to have it done.

Me too!
…and a shaved head is in style for men now !..
and makes balding guys look better.

I’m balding pretty badly. I let my hair grow out for a year a couple of years ago and it was terrible looking. Back to the shaved head. It’s also way too hot having hair. I have a large beard to contend with as well and the look works for me.

The last time I paid for a haircut, it was $3.00. I have been cutting my hair for so long that
I’ve become an expert at it. The attachments that come with hair clippers make it a 5-minute
job.

I use a Flowbee. Works great. Beyond the initial cost, nothing.

My wife cuts my hair in the bathroom. The only cost is the upkeep of the missus.

Cutting my hair is easy peasy. It only takes a #2 blade on our electric razor for the cut and a #000 for trimming up the edges. It didn’t seem to make sense to pay $20-$25 + tip (20 years ago) at the barber’s when she could trim me up in half the time and at no cost. Santa gave me the clippers one Christmas and she’s been cutting my hair ever since.

Me too Professor – perzactly the same deal,

Ray’s Hideaway barber shop, next to Kings Donuts in little shopping center Chestnut Square. Where Chestnut meets Clayton Road.
Don’t recall price, always two twenties.
Been going to Rays since he was next to TV store in shopping center along Ygnacio, now called Clayton Valley shopping center
.
Chinese Kitchen is across the way, On Clayton Road
GREAT food !

It cost me nothing since I cut my hair, … well trim.
It’s almost to my waist again and do not color it, … been 17 years.
The gray/silver is coming very shiny like there is glitter in it.
Starting to like it better.

I’m on the fence about continuing with the color or letting the silver come through.

TPC ~
A trick to use to transition going gray is to have your colored hair lighten.
It won’t be as noticeable if you have dark hair now.
You won’t look old if you have a positive attitude,…. 🙂

Go with silver, you won’t get carded when buying booze.

After the place I had been going to for years for cut and color lost her business during the *ahem* virus debacle and shutdowns, I started doing my own hair. I watched what she was doing and learned how to do it myself.
Lately, I have been seeing Mindy at Lenny’s Barbershop who does a really good job of interpreting my style and making it come to life.
$40 for a cut, $50 with tip. Worth it for the professional cut.

I don’t just get a hair cut; I get them all cut, and when I do it’s usually with a coupon at Great Clips.

It sounds like I’m in good company. I got tired of paying $16 for a trim with a razor, plus tip.
So I bought a razor and trim it myself. I did go back to Lucas’ Barber Shop and got a trim and it went up to $24. Haven’t been back in years. It’s not even Lucas’ anymore.

I cut my own hair, using an electric hair clipper, and my wife trims it up. Been doing that for over 30 years. Kind of like shearing sheep…

I haven’t had a haircut in about 25 years. My hair is wonderfully long and manageable, and I intend to keep it that way as long as it keeps growing. No, I was never a hippy – I just like my hair long.

The H trims the length. I do the fringe. Up for summer. Down in the winter for warmth. I love the sparkles now that I’m aging.

Judging by all of the dislikes on many of the answers, it seems that there are a few barbers/hair stylists on this thread.

No, just people that think cutting your own hair looks “noticeable” to others. I can tell when others cut their own hair, and it usually looks terrible. Money at the salon (to me) is money well spent.

Not a dime for 25+ years. Like many others here, I do it myself with clippers and a mirror on the back patio.

MVP Barber Shop, $20.

DeAngelo Cabuloy at Main Event Barber Shop in the Dana Plaza Shopping Center. An infinitely polite young man who does an excellent and consistent cut. A senior haircut is $35, plus gratuity.
