BART Service Restored After Big Morning Outage

BART train service is back up and running systemwide for the first time Friday after being shut down for hours due to a computer networking problem. BART announced that the trains were running again at about 9:20 a.m. after initially alerting commuters shortly before 4:30 a.m. about the service disruption. Officials with the transit agency previously said that there would just be limited East Bay service resuming earlier Friday before eventually saying trains would also be running in San Francisco and San Mateo counties. BART didn’t say what might have led to the computer problem.

They probably have no clue what the real problem was – but if they do know & is employee caused, there will be no transparency .. the public will never find out. Where is the redundancy that should be built in the system? They should not get one more dime of funding till this kind of service problem is alleviated and tested.

If only they had drivers on board who could manually drive the trains, short of a power outage. Oo wait! Why do we have drivers again if they can’t actually do anything except hold the doors open.
