Great! Will my taxes be lowered then? I’m tired of paying for the lazy.

TheTruth August 19, 2019 - 11:44 AM - 11:44 AM

You pay taxes because the rich dont, so use lower and middle class citizens must make up the difference. Think about it, Amazon is one of the most richest companies but paid $0 in taxes last year. Do you know what that means? It mean WE have to make up the difference. Some people really need to educate themselves, only a very small percentage of your tax is paying for unemployment and illegal immigrants.

Liar! Liar! August 19, 2019 - 11:57 AM - 11:57 AM

44% of Americans pay no income tax at all, and they aren’t the rich people that you’re so jealous of, Comrade. The rich are the ones actually paying most of the taxes inn this country.

Chicken Little August 19, 2019 - 12:22 PM - 12:22 PM

How much does Amazon pay out in wages every year that is then taxed? How much merchandise does Amazon sell that’s also taxed? Even if they don’t directly pay any taxes, they are certainly indirectly responsible for massive tax payments.

Captain Bebops August 19, 2019 - 12:30 PM - 12:30 PM

@Liar!,Liar!, maybe that’s because they are unemployed. Progressive taxation kept greed under control when it was used. But eventually the money junkies found ways around it.

We all know that unemployment figures are rigged to make things look better than they are. Unemployed over a year? You won’t be counted.

Fact Checker August 19, 2019 - 10:37 PM - 10:37 PM

@Liar!Liar!, the majority of tax filers who don’t pay anything in federal income tax still pay federal taxes. They pay payroll taxes for Social Security and Medicare. In fact, they pay a higher percentage of their income in payroll taxes than the rich do because Social Security taxes are only taken out on the first $128K in wages. About 7% of those earning between $86,000 and $150,000 don’t pay any federal income tax. About 1% of those making over $150,000 don’t pay any federal income tax.

This can not be true, a recession is coming.

JWB August 19, 2019 - 12:57 PM - 12:57 PM

@ Wizard

in June 2019 it was at 3.2% for Contra Costa County and now it is at 3.4% do you think the 0.2% is just normal fluctuation or do you think a 0.2% difference is significant?

The Wizard August 19, 2019 - 5:06 PM - 5:06 PM

JWB, not significant, don,t drink the Kool Aid…Trump 2020

JWB August 19, 2019 - 7:20 PM - 7:20 PM

@ The Wizard

I agree with you that these small changes are not significant wich means the Trump numbers are not significant different from the Obama numbers.

Ricardoh August 19, 2019 - 11:34 AM - 11:34 AM

Did they include the homeless in the count? Nothing like the Obama recovery. Or was it the Joe Biden recovery? I forget.

Ricardoh August 19, 2019 - 6:53 PM - 6:53 PM

Did it for fifty years. Never thought much of it except it had to be done. Enjoyed most days. Funny thing is now when I see people commuting to work I think how can they stand it.

Justifiable languor August 21, 2019 - 5:46 AM - 5:46 AM

Yup. Started as a teen and worked until 50. Started freelancing. The husband started working summers as a child in his dads busness. Then at 16, with his uncle. 40 years. After that, the busness was a no brainer. Still at it and grateful.

Frank August 21, 2019 - 5:43 PM - 5:43 PM

So the California unemployment rate is 10% higher than the rest of the country and we still have 34% of all the people on welfare in the US. I see help wanted signs wherever I go and homeless wherever I go. Newsom/Brown syndrome making poverty a goal.

Fred P. August 21, 2019 - 7:40 PM - 7:40 PM

As a liberal, randy has a tough time typing the word “job.”

I think he’s allergic to work.
