Bay Area Universities Receive Grants For Educational Resources

Four Bay Area universities have received $1.5 million grants from the U.S. Department of Education to lead and support a three-year initiative to increase access to open educational resources, according to a release from St. Mary’s College.

Open educational resources (OER) are low-cost teaching and learning materials without barriers and permission for open use according to the release. OER has the potential to save at least 6,000 students more than $500,000 within its first year of adoption.

Librarians at LMU, Saint Mary’s College, Santa Clara University, and the University of San Francisco will use the funds to train and prepare up to twelve faculty teams.

The teams will create, modify and publish OER that can integrate diverse, inclusive and anti-racist resources into high-enrollment courses in numerous disciplines.

The initiative is meant to reduce costs for students in these courses, encourage faculty to promote OER and add more OER content focused on diversity, equity and inclusion.

So will this make the students better able to compete in the global workplace?

.
Of course not.
.
It just makes them focus more on race above everything else in all considerations or interactions.
.
“Diversity, equity, and inclusion” is just a verbal smokescreen for institutionalized racism.

I went to St. Mary’s College in the late 1960’s. In my Senior year they raised the tuition of $600 per semester to $800!! There was almost a riot by students and their parents. There were only 900 students in the whole College then. It was all “boys” back then. When they finally agreed (due to alumni pressure) to admit “girls”, the enrollment doubled quickly and tuitions went even higher. They are always asking me for financial support; but I haven’t sent them a dime since they have gone so “woke” in the past 30+ years. Their current endowment is about 1/2 Billion Dollars. What a scam.

I’m not sure what the diversity stuff is all about, but I am in favor reducing costs for students. Textbook publishers and authors mostly seem interested in getting as much money as possible from students by making use of their monopoly control of classes and required readings. For example, algebra and calculus does not change much from decade to decade, but teachers will require the latest and greatly changed edition at $200 for a book while the previous book has the same material in different chapters and is sitting in the used book store for $30. Openstax and others that provide free online textbooks are getting more use to sidestep this money grab.

And Diversity strikes again! If you are a white male in this state, you are so screwed. You will get no help. You will get ridiculed and in class you will be told you are the most evil person in the world. As a white male, you will be taught that you are not good, have never been and will never be. But you then be told, it is not racist to be told that white males are bad … but if the white male judges someone on the color of their skin, they will be considered racist and it is not the same.

Sort of a more psychotic (if that’s possible), bent version of Calvinism.

The government is a bunch of weasels. Congress men and women have aids that think of all these ways to spend money that we have to then borrow. Then congress votes for a spending bill without the slightest knowledge of what they are voting for. Something has to change.

In case you missed it the Daily Mail reporting on George Soros’s donations, lists Diane Becton our DA of getting $280,000 from George.

I believe Gascon in L.A. got $2.5 million from Soros, according to CaliforniaGlobe. They report property crime increase 50% when Gascon was DA of SF. Always interesting how money can get voters to vote against what is good for them.

That is a big flaw in our voting system. They vote for name recognition and the propaganda and lies that they put into commercials. If there was still testing to be eligible to vote we would have a better government.

Tried to give “Thumbs Up” on all these comments, but buttons are not working. It’s so bad the “woke” won’t even let white guys agree with one another. You have to know the “woke” position is extraordinarily weak when they go to such extremes simply to block a concensus.

White guys cannot even hang out together in some places … the scary guys might be plotting some racist activity. But it is okay for any other group to gather to celebrate their heritage (Chinese New Year), Ramadan, Cinco De Mayo, and many others but whites … FORGET IT!

SMH and the stupidity of the WOKE people.
