Darwin December 4, 2020 - 2:41 PM - 2:41 PM

CDC’s survival rate for Covid-19 by age

0-19 99.997%
20-49 99.98%
50-69 99.5%
70+ 94.6%

The Ebola virus had a 29% survival rate for all ages.

Enough said!

Open up, if you are afraid or at risk stay home. The government wants to destroy the economy so we are dependent on them so it will be easier to slide into socialism. There is more going on here.

Joe Blo December 4, 2020 - 5:40 PM - 5:40 PM

Is there a reason you don’t care to post the stats for long-term medical problems and instead only choose to repeatedly repost the “death” statistic?

I guess somehow breathing problems and other (confirmed) medical issues don’t mean anything to you. That’s quite an agenda you’re trying really hard to (incorrectly) point out. You see, it’s people like you that’s a reason we’re in the condition we’re in – your own ego is too strong to be told there’s an actual threat and/or problem internationally now.

You talk about the “government wants to destroy the economy” .. I didn’t know our government controls the economies of every other country on the planet as well. I bet you believe the Earth is flat and Trump actually won the election, right?

You have to be a blast at parties with all those conspiracy theories you got in your pocket .. wowzers!

Darwin December 4, 2020 - 6:11 PM - 6:11 PM

@ jo slow

1) You can’t stop a virus. It’s going to run it’s course
2) IF YOU ARE AFRAID OR AT RISK STAY HOME.
3) Statistics don’t lie, to bad your feelings are hurt. Only a fool would argue with those stats. Well I guess you are a f##l. Also you will be able to get the vaccine TRUMP put on a fast path by summer 😊
4) Quit fear mongoring
5) Do some research on George Soros. And then get back to me on my conspiracy theories on the economy
6) The earth is not flat and we will find out if Trump won the election on December 14 or 15, 2020, once the electoral college is finalized. The democratic media is not the entity that determines who won.
7) Any cancer patient would gladly take those statistics.
8) The government has shut down the economy, therefore they are controlling it genius. The economy is now stalling.
9) You obviously can’t think for yourself and believe everything the Democratic media is spoon feeding you. Must be a Biden supporter.

I actually feel sorry for you.

You are probably anti second amendment to. Just remember the second amendment protects the first.
Best of luck 😂

Doh December 5, 2020 - 9:35 PM - 9:35 PM

Darwin -A virus can be stopped by limiting its contamination. This is done by wearing masks in public and social distancing and using listening to the doctors, not to Trump the Loser.

Remember the 2/7/20 recording when Trump admitted he knew weeks before the first confirmed US coronavirus death that the virus was dangerous, airborne, highly contagious and ‘more deadly than even your strenuous flus,’ and that he repeatedly played it down publicly. We heard Trump saying that.

Any mention of Soros and conspiracy shows you to be a wing nut. Get your news elsewhere.

Marco December 6, 2020 - 12:14 AM - 12:14 AM

Doh,how’s that planet you’re living on?it’s not earth.

Whoville, December 4, 2020

Santa’s traditional sleigh ride around the world on Christmas Eve is cancelled this year due to Covid-19, announced the Grinch, current mayor of Whoville. When asked about specifics, the mayor gleefully stated, “Rudolph was diagnosed with Covid earlier this year and his nose has not been shining ever since. This safety hazard, along with the potential of the sleigh ride becoming a super spreader event, has forced us to make this decision. We hope to have the sleigh ride back, and better than ever in 2021. For 2020, parents should buy presents for their kids and pretend that Santa brought them. They may want to leave cookies and milk by the fireplace, just as they do every year.”

Mike December 4, 2020 - 3:08 PM - 3:08 PM

This is odd….. is it normal for hospitals to lose ICU beds?
83 total yesterday
71 total today.

Contra Costa County COVID-19 Hospital Data:

COVID-19 patients currently hospitalized – 122 (36 in the ICU)
Available ICU beds – 35
Available ventilators – 207
PREVIOUS DAY NUMBERS SHOWN BELOW:
Contra Costa County COVID-19 data as of Thursday Dec. 3
COVID-19 patients currently hospitalized – 116 (27 in the ICU)
Available ICU beds – 55
Available ventilators – 204

Chris December 4, 2020 - 3:18 PM - 3:18 PM

The total ICU beds are the available beds + COVID cases + non-COVID cases. The difference is due to the non-COVID ICU cases that are not reported here.

Mike December 4, 2020 - 3:27 PM - 3:27 PM

So relevant data is missing?

Last I checked decisions are being made my percentages of the data posted above.

When they say 15% available, is it 15% of 83 or 71!

CJRN December 4, 2020 - 3:34 PM - 3:34 PM

ICU beds based on staffing for the ICU as well as physical beds in the ICU. No ICU nurses = no ICU beds to take critically ill patients

Sancho Panza December 4, 2020 - 3:09 PM - 3:09 PM

The cell phone alert about this new health order is over the TOP! Fear mongering at its finest…

DVC Student December 4, 2020 - 3:12 PM - 3:12 PM

I just got a loud text on my phone to shelter-in-place & not leave outside my home starting December 6th.

Nope – I will be following Gov. Newsom’s actions, not his orders.

America is tired of governmental orders as Governors & Mayors vacation in Mexico, travel with friends on private planes, & hang out with multiple people from different households without masks.

I will wear my mask as a courtesy although I don’t believe it works since COVID has continued to spread for 10 months, regardless.
But I’m leaving my house & going anywhere I want that is open.

DVC Student December 4, 2020 - 3:30 PM - 3:30 PM

The way to control the population is to control the economy.

The worse the economy is, the more dependent the population is on the government for hand-outs.

Once you’re dependent on the government, they own you & you will comply with them in order to get that monthly check.

I know I’m looked at as just a kid & dismissed but it’s really important to remain self-sufficient.
You will be able to advance yourselves & control how your life ends up!

Stay strong, everybody!

Captain Bebops December 4, 2020 - 5:17 PM - 5:17 PM

One thing you will learn with more experience in life is that “luck” has a lot to do with how you plan to live and “back luck” can really mess with it. I think everyone would like to live self-sufficient but it doesn’t always work out that way.

anon December 4, 2020 - 5:43 PM - 5:43 PM

You may be just a kid, but from your posts I’ve read on this site you seem to be much more level headed and have a better idea of what’s going on than a lot of people that post on here. This includes posts on completely different subjects than this.

Storm December 4, 2020 - 4:56 PM - 4:56 PM

Anybody notice the very large print “GET YOUR FLU SHOT” on the link in the county alert today?

Apotheoun December 4, 2020 - 5:29 PM - 5:29 PM

The public authorities are acting like Chicken Little.

ZZ December 4, 2020 - 5:39 PM - 5:39 PM

Why don’t you blame the likes of Newsom and Cuomo that FORCED sick people into nursing homes. Take a look at nursing homes that don’t give s**t about their patients. That’s what killed the elderly.

Led December 4, 2020 - 6:19 PM - 6:19 PM

Let me get this straight. You’re saying if mask compliance were better they would let family into nursing homes to be with dying Covid patients? Just think about that for a sec. That’s not happening anywhere.

Darwin December 4, 2020 - 6:35 PM - 6:35 PM

Sad that he passed away like that, sounds like he was in his 80s most likely. I wish my friends lived that long. His Covid survival rate was 94.5% not 99%.
As to the mask, it has the same affect as a chain link fence trying to stop a BB. Think about it???

Just think if someone passes gas people smell it, right? The gas passes through underwear and jeans. Just think about it????
So how effective is the mask really?? I wear the mask because people are afraid and I can’t go into anyplace with out it.

Led December 4, 2020 - 6:39 PM - 6:39 PM

I’m against Covid hysteria, but the hospital numbers are going up quickly. Not great. I hope that slows down sometime soon.

Led December 4, 2020 - 6:44 PM - 6:44 PM

There’s no easy solution for people in care facilities. They are super vulnerable to the virus, but they also need and deserve human contact in their last stage of life. There is no way we could have the virus so eliminated in the US that these facilities could have normal visiting AND prevent outbreaks in them. No way. Certainly not just by increasing mask compliance – which is very high in the real world, btw.

Look at Vermont : super low Covid numbers throughout this year. But are they able to have normal visiting in care facilities? Of course not.

Sam December 4, 2020 - 7:42 PM - 7:42 PM

Your obedience is prolonging this nightmare. Stop paying attention to these idiots

Puffandstuff December 4, 2020 - 7:52 PM - 7:52 PM

Moot not mute … autocorrect 🙄

Well December 4, 2020 - 9:24 PM - 9:24 PM

I ran into a nurse friend who works a COVID unit in CC County. This nurse told me what is not being made public in the County is that because CC County has many more readily available testing sites than other counties that many people from outside the county are traveling into CC county to be tested. This person said that the test results are being counted in the county that the person is testing in and not their county of residence. So CC County numbers are inflated and not accurate.

Captain Bebops December 5, 2020 - 11:54 AM - 11:54 AM

That should not be happening and the case should be credited to the county person tested resides in. That would have been a good question to ask yesterday to see if true.

Darwin December 4, 2020 - 10:36 PM - 10:36 PM

@Puff and stuff
Now you know 8 people who survived corona. I know it effects people differently and I understand and respect the lives lost. However, I’ve had hangovers worse.

chuckie the troll December 5, 2020 - 10:36 AM - 10:36 AM

With enough ICU beds to accommodate a doubling or covid patients, I see absolutely no logic or reason to further damage business owners, our economy, and the well-being of individuals with these draconian measures. This is like swatting a fly with a tactical nuke!

I can only conclude that Gavin is taking this out on us because we called him out on his French Laundry (and other) violation of restrictions the rest of us are supposed to follow, OR…Gavin does not want to give up his dictatorial powers over our personal lives. Neither reason is acceptable.
