Several TB Cases Linked To California Grand Casino In Pacheco

Contra Costa County public health officials are advising anyone who has spent time inside California Grand Casino in Pacheco since 2018 to consider getting a tuberculosis test after several related cases were recently revealed among staff and customers there.

Contra Costa Health on Thursday said recent genetic testing revealed several linked cases among 11 confirmed TB cases, and the majority of them are associated with the casino located on Pacheco Boulevard.

County health officials say tuberculosis can live inside someone’s body for months or years without causing any symptoms, but that symptoms of active TB include a persistent or bloody cough, fever, weight loss, night sweats and fatigue.

The health department has not identified a current source of TB transmission but is advising anyone who has visited the casino over the past five years to get tested.

“We are making this recommendation now because there is new evidence that TB may have spread among people who spent time at the casino from 2018 to 2023,” county deputy health officer Dr. Meera Sreenivasan said. “TB can cause serious illness, but it is treatable and curable with medicine, especially when caught early.”

The county has contacted more than 300 people who may have been exposed to active TB and is working with the casino to provide education to staff and to encourage testing.

California Grand Casino spokesperson Becky Warren said in a statement, “Our foremost commitment is to ensure the safety of our customers and employees.

According to Contra Costa Health, none of the linked cases are currently contagious, nor do they involve our staff. Additionally, Contra Costa Health has not identified any ongoing sources of transmission at the card room. We are actively collaborating with the county on notifications and testing to uphold public health and safety.”

They figured out that Racism Is A Public Health Crisis as soon as the BLM mobs took to the streets. Perhaps only bullying them works to expedite their activities. Seems to work for the Marxist revolutionaries in the streets.

1. TB is not a flu, it is slow to develop. It may take months, if not years, for a person to become symptomatic. Just as the article says.
2. Despite the millions of illegal immigrants, TB is still quite rare in the US. So when an infected person develops cough, TB is not on the top of physician’s list. Unless the patient traveled to India or Africa or another country where TB is prevalent. So it can easily take several months to get a diagnosis and a genetic analysis of TB.
3. Because TB is slow to develop, contact tracing beyond the immediate family is difficult. Even with genetic analysis of TB. For a simple reason that people don’t remember who they were in contact with several months ago.
So it is quite remarkable that the County Health has been able to trace this cluster to its source at the casino, although not to the “patient zero”.
Now, I’m sure that you, with your superior knowledge of pulmonology, microbiology and epidemiology, could have done it a lot faster than in 6 years. Unlike these Marxist revolutionary idiots. Right?

As soon as any public official spoke the words “racism is a public health crisis,” they lost all credibility. Anna Roth said exactly that. Every technical truth you just said is irrelevant after that. I DON’T TRUST them. They are either cowards who bent the knee to the mob, or they are active participants in the lie.

If some official in the Bible belt was doing things mostly correctly, but said intelligent design was correct and evolution was wrong to please the creationists, would you trust them?

Whatever good work they do will always be suspect, just like a bowl of M&Ms is worthless if you put in one single piece filled with excrement.

The health dept. has not identified a current source of TB transmission, and I have a feeling they never will. Is it at all possible it’s being transmitted by illegals? If it is, and I believe that it is, they will never to it. They better check the homeless population while they’re at it, too.

Dawg November 3, 2023 - 2:44 PM - 2:44 PM

I didn’t say they were in the casinos having a good time, but that doesn’t mean it hasn’t spread to the homeless population, this is why I said they should be checked. And why wouldn’t illegals patronize a casino? Asians, especially the Chinese, like to gamble. Tuberculosis didn’t originate in the casino, an infected person had to bring it in, and that person could have been an illegal, or that person could have been infected by an illegal or a homeless person, or both. Or, that person could have been infected by another person who was infected by another person who was infected by an illegal, and so on, and so on.
See how it works?

Seems like the kinda place where TB might only be in the top three of the diseases to worry about.
