Not true, Hope. A victims’ fund created after Epstein’s death paid more than $121 million to 135 victims. The money came from his estate. This was in addition to money victims received from Epstein as part of his 2008 plea deal. It has been widely reported that Epstein victim Virginia Giuffre received a settlement from Prince Andrew.
Or so it is claimed. No court pursued restitution for the victims so the value of estate was not evaluated nor the alleged amounts verified. Epstein’s estate set up the fund, it was not court ordered so we are dependent on the estate to provide legitimate numbers, and part of the requirement to accept the funding was not to file any lawsuits thereby protecting Epstein’s clients who likely are worth billions. These funds required filing a claim with the estate, and many women said their claims were rejected by the estate. Prince Andrew is said to have settled with one victim outside of court which has nothing to do with the US or British court system. Maxwell sits in jail today after being convicted in a court of law of helping Epstein with human trafficking. Who were they trafficked to and why didn’t the court care to compensate the victims for damages knowing Epstein’s clients are wealthy? Trump’s accuser couldn’t recall the date, year, or season of her claimed event yet the court was eager to give a relatively unknown woman $83 million dollars in defamation damages but no court intervention for multiple victims of human trafficking? Not even pursuit of the clients of a convicted human trafficker? What does that say about the court system?
And that is in addition to the $5 million he was ordered to lay back in May.
Frank, I basically agree. Trump lost $83 million, not because of a sexual assault, but because he couldn’t stop running his mouth. Like most innocent people, he felt a need to defend himself and there is an obvious agenda to end free speech if that speech is politically unpopular.
We saw free speech threatened when the “misinformation” label was pinned upon people during the Covid crisis and we saw it during the Alex Jones’ trials where he was not allowed to defend himself. We are seeing it again with the latest round of Trump persecution.
I’d be hesitant to defend Trump if he had said, “MOST PEOPLE THINK OF RAPE AS SEXY”. But he didn’t say it, the accuser, E Jean Carroll did as she recounted her “assault” by Trump. The statement and her affect was so insane that Anderson Cooper had to abruptly cut to commercial.

You are correct. She’s won the judgement, but doesn’t get the money yet. Trump will appeal and tie this up in court. However, in order to appeal, he must either deposit the entire amount with the court or secure a bond. He chose to deposit the entire $5.5 million with court in order to appeal the first verdict. He could deposit the entire $86 million to appeal this case, or he could try to secure a bond which would require him to put down a deposit, provide collateral, and pay fees and interest. It will be interesting to see which route he takes and if $86 million is enough to stop him from going after her. $5.5 million was clearly not enough.

I actually read the report that you posted. The report is real news, but your summation of it is fake.
The report talks about the lack of oversight in the distribution of prescription medication, the giving of “care” to ineligible patients, and the use of name brand drugs vs. generics.
I’ll sum up the report for you since you have apparently NOT read it. Maybe you did but it was too complicated for you to comprehend. The WH pharmacy was extremely lax in giving care to patients. They didn’t follow guidelines in filling prescriptions. They overpaid by using name brands vs. generics. They didn’t bill ineligible patients for services rendered. That’s pretty much it.
The people who were in charge of the WH prescriptions should probably never be in a supervisory position again. New procedures have hopefully been adopted. But to claim that this shows rampant drug abuse is nothing short of BS.
It’s not so much hypocrisy as true duality I’ve come to believe. While supposedly valuing freedom and at the same time championing authoritative leadership. Not even championing, it’s a cult. How that dichotomy reconciles, I have no idea. But it is fascinating. I don’t see anything about “illegal aliens”. I’m certainly not supporting driving under the influence, but this seems to treat legal aliens committing DUI a lot harsher compared to U.S. nationals?
Yes jbw, the expectation is if you want to stay in the country, you need to follow the laws. US citizens go to jail, Non citizens go home. That’s how it was and should be. It makes better immigrants. The kind we welcome. That’s why ALL illegals will be deported. The first thing they do is break the law. Drinking and driving was part of our culture until we decided to change it. People from other countries still do it regularly. This is a problem.

Again, this bill is not restricted to “illegal immigrants”. So why do you try to shift your response again. And why would you think deporting DUI offenses would stop them from re-entering? This bill is simply an anti immigration bill under the disguise of driving safety. If safe roads would be the aim it would call for stricter enforcement of DUI laws.
