QUESTION: Have you ever been on a cruise? If so, would you recommend going on one? If not, do you think you ever will?

Talk about it….

I’d rather fly and spend time at my destination than spend all that time on a boat. I don’t
like crowds, and I think I would find a cruise to be tedious, monotonous, and boring.
The only boat I’d like to spend time on is a houseboat with close friends and family on
Lake Shasta.
When I was a teenager, I was in the Sea Scouts, and we cruised down to Catalina Island.
That was fun, but it was a much smaller boat (about 150 feel) and I was with friends.

Yes – went on a cruise down through Mexico, several stops at ports …. wouldn’t go on another – feel too confined on board … I can see where others might enjoy it though – just not me

If you felt too confined, you went on the wrong cruise line.

Holland America? Big ship? hmmmmm

Cruise Ships are for newlyweds and nearly deads.
I don’t want to be stuck on a floating petri dish.
I’d much rather spend time sitting on the dock on an overwater bungalow on Bora Bora.
(Been there, done that, will go back and do it again).

I’ve gone on several cruises, and I love cruising. An easy stress-free way to travel. and everything is paid for except the drinks. Fun and very relaxing.

Been on 3, all Royal Caribbean. One for honeymoon, 2 paid for by in-laws so whole family could travel. I enjoyed the food. I enjoyed watching the sea as we cruised, every once in a while, seeing some dolphins or flying fish. I would recommend, depending on the interest the itinerary holds, and with the understanding there is a fair amount of down time. I have been looking at cruises for the last couple years, yet have not found one I would want or could (due to too many nights) to take.

We were reluctant to go on a cruise with so many people on a crowded ship and finally decided to give it a try. We found Viking and it seemed like a good fit, so we booked a 2 week cruise from Bergen Norway, north to the top of Norway, then back south to Scotland, ending up with a night cruise up the River Thames to London (we tied up in Greenwich). We loved it! The ship was beautiful and uncrowded with only 930 passengers and every cabin had a balcony. We love our grandchildren, but there is nobody under 18 allowed on Viking. Virtually everything is included, including at least one excursion in each port and beer and wine with lunch and dinner. We liked it so much we booked a 2 week Viking cruise from Barcelona to Venice while crossing the North Sea. We later added a week long Viking river cruise on the Rhine from Basel Switzerland to Amsterdam after extensions in Venice and Lake Como. The service is outstanding and it’s business casual; in the 5 weeks we have been on Viking, I never put a tie on, nor felt the need to do so. We won’t go on any other cruise line. On a cruise you see a lot of places, but never really get immersed in any place. We like to wander and stay longer, so the last two years we have done month-long European road trips by rental car. The first was a whole month in Italy, the next a month that was about 2/3 Italy and the rest in Switzerland, with a day each in Austria and France. We try to stay at least 3 days in each place we visit to get to know it better than just a day trip. We hope to do more European road trips (we’ve also done several U.S. road trips). Also, having a car gives you flexibility and the ability to go exploring.

My mom and my stepdad are going on a cruise they go every year in the month of February in Florida to stay out along the Caribbean

I’ve never been on a cruise but I wouldn’t mind taking an Alaska cruise.

I went on a cruise in the late nineties. I was selling Long Term Care Insurance, and I along with other top selling agents qualified for a free cruise to Mexico. We went to Puerto Vallarta, Matzalan a Cabo San Lucas. I enjoyed it very much, and it didn’t cost me a dime. When I travelled from Denmark to go to Israel, we took the train from Copenhagen to Venice, from Venice we went by ship to Haifa. We stopped in Athens, Corfu, Crete and Cypres (just a few hours there) and there was time to do some sightseeing. It was really a cruise, just a mode of transportation, but it felt like a cruise. We travelled 3 class, but we didn’t care, the weather was glorious, and stayed up dancing the night away.

I would like to go on a cruise to Alaska and also a Rhine cruise.

Cruising is nice if the cruise is the primary reason and not the destinations since time spent at the destinations is too short and the land excursions too expensive. But cruising is awesome if you just want to chill, be pampered, eat well and have a good time!

You couldn’t get me on a cruise ship at gunpoint.
I mean that literally. Mostly.

Been on many (20+) and love it. Get to see different places almost every day without packing up for each city. Its a great way to sample a few places in a region to see where you may like to explore further in the future.
