As we previously reported, Dick’s Sporting Goods in Pleasant Hill is really getting hit hard lately by shoplifters.
Several incidents occurred over the weekend, and another four shoplifting incidents occurred on Monday night and Tuesday, according to the Pleasant Hill Police Department.
Here’s the rundown from the PHPD:
7:55 p.m. (Monday) – A Hispanic male adult with face tattoos walked out with two sweatshirts.
12:39 p.m. (Tuesday) – An unknown race male in his 60s with grey hair walked out with a backpack, basketballs and an Adidas bag. The man was pushing a blue Marshall’s cart.
2:46 p.m. (Tuesday) – A white male adult in his 30s left the store with a cart full of items. He had brown hair with tattoos on his hands and arms.
5 p.m. (Tuesday) – Two black male adults in their mid 20s took four boxes of Nike shoes. They fled in a Chevy and ran the red light on their way out of the parking lot.

Because they know in CA there are no consequences.
The problem is … The store is way too big, with too many floors that are unattended and too many high end items that these punks love and cannot afford.
I went in one day after a trip to Kohls and the dollar store and I could not find sales help
on any floor. The few downstairs at the register were busy ringing up or talking amongst each other. I’m sure there is way more theft than they see, as I saw someone taking a photo of some guy running from the door.
Sensor tags don’t work in stopping these bafoons. Only human eyes (not woke employees on their phones) and uniformed security at the door would curb it.
They have learned Dick’s is an easy target and a good place to go to win best dressed award in their hood.
I hope the store gets it figured out before they lose good customers out of fear.

I understand what you are saying when you say that the store is too big, but I humbly disagree with you On that statement. I think the problem is more the lack of prosecution on crimes like this. There is no legal deterrent for those that are committing these crimes. You can steal upwards of $949 and face no jail time in this state. And stores are so scared and scarred that they will not take action themselves to physically stop this from occurring. TBH, if someone broke into my house when I was home, they would not be leaving on their own ….
So is it really the fault is the store for being so big, or is it society (civilian, law enforcement and DA’s) for allowing these behaviors to occur?
When you have a store that big you have to hire enough employees. Voting Gavin and Biden out would also help, as they condone illegals pouring in for freebies and love being soft on crime in general.
I can see that point about hiring the correct number of people for the size of the store.
Word is out, Dick’s is an easy score for the looters.

Word is out that everything at Dick’s is on sale for 100% off. Personally, I wouldn’t shop there, even at those prices.

Eventually, Dick’s will either get some security or the store will close. The story is out-any retailer, large and
small, will be the victim of bold shoplifting sanctioned by the State of California. I’m sure the largest companies
have already made a decision to stay out of this state, and when leases come up, they will shutter the store
rather than take daily losses as Dick’s has. Stupid decisions have consequences.
Soon they will be forced to close and we will all be Dick-less.

They should send a bill for all their losses to Gavin, Becton, all the liberal Democrat government politicians who have enabled criminals, and all those that voted for those politicians. Also, send a bill to all those who voted for prop 47(The safe neighborhood and schools act).

I don’t think Dicks is special, they are just reporting the crime. Most other stores don’t want to pay an employee 1hr to file and deal with a police report

I think Dick’s ought to be held responsible for this and be ordered to fix the problems…. or be asked to take their business elsewhere because it’s attracting a bad element into Pleasant Hill.
Pleasant Hill suffers from being too close to Concord which suffers from being too close to Pittsburg etc. etc. etc. It seems many problems arrive from the east. Now humor me for a moment, what if law enforcement concentrated on problem individuals heading west? That might just have a positive effect on crime.
Just have one entrance, which they did during the pandemic, and have a security guard at the exit checking receipts, it’s not rocket science
The way they are, the security guard would help the crook carry the loot out to their car.
