Contra Costa County District Attorney Diana Becton is inviting residents to learn how her office works this fall in the 2023 Fall Community Academy.

The free, 9-week course will be held at the DA’s office in downtown Martinez, from 6-8:30 p.m. every Wednesday, beginning Sept. 6.

“One of my goals as district attorney is to be more transparent with the community about what our office does in the criminal justice system,” Becton said in a statement. “The community academy is an integral program that strengthens our community through education, information, and understanding.”

Participants will get an in-depth view of the criminal justice system by hearing from deputy district attorneys, investigators, victim advocates, support staff, community-based organizations, and justice partners.

People will learn firsthand how the District Attorney’s Office files cases, will meet with a Superior Court judge during a court tour, gain knowledge about prosecutions and investigations, visit the Martinez Detention Facility, and understand the office’s outreach efforts for children, parents, and victims.

The academy is open to residents 18 and older who live or work in Contra Costa County. To apply, go to contracostada.org by June 30.

Obviously, education is needed. Especially in this day and age.

Get arrested
Get released
Drop charges
I don’t need a 9 week course to figure that out

Liberal propaganda, misinformation, and left wing justice principles will be disseminated.

NO THANKS, BECTON.

You see, how this works is the police arrest bad guys and the DA lets them go. Job security for police officers. Don’t need a class to know that our State does not prosecute thugs.

Who’s criminal justice system?

The one we have today that is a failure?

Or the one where criminals are incarcerated to be taught a lesson and perhaps rehabilitated?

Either way, neither one works all that well, but catch and release is certainly not the answer.

Maybe we should take some cues from Singapore.

Ah yes… the little vandal named Michael Fay who was caned.

Btw, I think executions should be just that.. PUBLIC for all to see – not just a few select reporters. Ya know, Oracle Park can hold about 45,000 people.

The only understanding we get is that if you enforce the existing laws, crime will go down. Doesn’t take nine weeks to explain this.

First plagiarize and then lie and cheat your way into office . Then convince voters getting robbed and crime is their way of creating equity. All with the backing of George Soros’s wallet.

exactly right!

Juryisout June 1, 2023 - 6:15 PM - 6:15 PM

It doesn’t work for the most part, there’s nothing really to teach, nightsticks up the side of the head and beatdowns are what’s needed again for criminals caught in the act..

Not just the public needs this kind of class.

We already know! They frame people like they did Scott Dyleski qho has served seventeen years in prison for a murder he had no involvement in while the real murderer, Daniel Horowitz, got off scott-free!

The C.C.C. D.A.’s Office office also framed Rickey Godfrey who served twenty-six years in prison for a murder he too never committed. Fortunately, Mr. Godfrey just got released due to pressure being applied to the D.A.’s Office.

Diana Becton and her side-kick Brian Feinberg should be charged with dereliction of duty and false imprisonment charges and jailed for life!

Dyleski’s DNA was found on Pam Vitale’s dead body. And he left a shoe print with her blood on it. He beat her in the head with a rock while she tried to fight him off. As she succumbed to death, he used his knife to carve up her back. Then he turned her over and plunged his knife into her gut, leaving her with a gaping hole.

Even his girlfriend and mother testified against him.

So he’s innocent, huh?

9 week course on how we don’t do our jobs, how we just write new laws making old laws more illegal, and how we are ruining California. Brilliant propaganda.

Maybe Pamela Price, Nancy jr.(Garvin), Weaner, and all the other supporter’s and enablers of criminals can make guest appearances and give their perspective on how well the criminal justice system is working.

Three words …

Catch and release.

Anthony Galiano June 4, 2023 - 3:25 PM - 3:25 PM

@ Beanzy: You are 100% incorrect; absolutely no DNA from Scott Dyleski was found on Pamela Vitale nor in the home or outside the home where the murder occurred tying Scott Dyleski to Vitale’s murder.

I recommend you read reporter Robert J. Hansen’s VERY recent articles on both Newsbreak and Davis Vanguard pertaining to Vitale’s murder and the framing of Scott Dyleski by Daniel Horowitz and many of his friends in high places in the C.C.C. D.A.’s Office along with local and national news.

With friends such as: Nancy Grace, Michael Savage, Harvey Levin, Dan Abrams, Mark Geragos, Bruce Gerston and Michael Cardoza spinning tales of what a loving and bereaved husband Horowitz was (evidence shows the absolute opposite) helping plant lies in news reports, etc., sixteen-year-old Scott Dyleski didn’t have a chance at a fair and impartial trial.

And, by the way, that shoe print you are speaking of was a LIE, too! The D.A.’s Office has had to since admit that the shoe print was NOT proven to be Scott’s and was ONLY possibly similar. Hell, they couldn’t even determine the size of the shoe. Yet, the entire case rested on that false claim! That was the “best” circumstantial evidence the D.A.’s Office could use to frame the poor kid.

Wait until the other articles come out showing how suppressed/hidden testimony ON THE RECORD IN COURT, shows that Daniel Horowitz just a few days before Vitale’s murder had told her, “I Wish You Would Die,” and how she also had a black eye just months before her murder. Not to mention, how Horowitz threw a phone (landline) at her head along with a metal bucket when she was laying in bed.

He was also having at least two affairs on his wife and literally married one of these women who he had just hired at his law firm just one week before his wife’s murder. They now have two kids together.

The wealth of inculpatory evidence against Horowitz is VERY strong and the exculpatory evidence showing Dyleski’s innocence is even stronger! All of this information was suppressed by the press and was NEVER allowed in Scott Dyleski’s 2006 trial.

Horowitz is currently VERY nervous and should be as additional articles are proving what a monster he truly is!

I recommend you go to: Scottdyleski.org and learn the “REAL” TRUTH!
