Any updates on the wild pigs ripping up lawns in the Canyon Creek neighborhood? Still there?

Have a great weekend, everyone! Time to get out and clear some more brush and weeds – get those green bins filled. Working outdoors seems to do me good.

People who choose to live far away, then cut through side streets because there is traffic on the freeway, are jerks. Your commute is always bad because here you chose to live. Why does mine have to be bad too, in my own city?

Totally agree. And let’s turn up the music and honk as much as possible.

I was at concord peets one morning and saw a homeless woman squatting go to the bathroom get up and leave. It was awful.

This happened to my 7 year old and myself! We were across the street at Los Gallos mexican food, we were sitting on the outdoot area. This young homeless woman came to the tree right in front and squatt down, she then proceeded to sit on the table next to us. We picked up out stuff and left, never came back since then.

I am just wondering why all of the comments have been deleted in regard to the toddler stuck by a vehicle on the corner of Treat and Cowell?

I asked the same question in the article, but it never got posted.

Oh, please June 16, 2023 - 8:39 PM - 8:39 PM

Probably because everyone was sad for the kid. The mom clearly wasn’t watching him at ALL and was on the thread attacking people. She got all butt hurt and probably complained.

If you have to ask “why” comments on a thread are deleted when comments get out of hand when a child was killed, you’re illogical, and I hope you don’t have children. Certain situations are very sensitive, and the death of a child is one of them. How sad that this has to be explained to you.

@Kentucky Derby
That little boy didn’t die but apparently requires multiple surgeries on his legs.

Kentucky Derby June 17, 2023 - 11:27 AM - 11:27 AM

Cyn, thanks for the correction. I couldn’t read any further because I’m a mom and a grandma, and even before I became a mom, sensitivity towards children should be human nature. I’m glad the comments were deleted, and I also understand that the gentleman running Claycord.com is calling all the shots, and he doesn’t owe any of us any explanation. I hope the little boy will be okay.

TTD June 17, 2023 - 10:17 AM - 10:17 AM

Your comment was totally out of line. Usually when comments are inappropriate or the discussion takes a turn for the worse then it is posted “comments are closed”. My question was a simple one. I am invested in the well being of this toddler and would refer to the comments as to any updates on his condition.

Still no book report. Happy Father’s Day to all the father’s out there. And to all other people who stand in for them when and as needed. Happy hugs to all of you.

I have noticed that a lot of Tesla cars do not have a front license plate as required by law.

Oh, please June 16, 2023 - 8:40 PM - 8:40 PM

Many other cars don’t use them either. It does not seem like this is being enforced anymore.

… and… you can get a citation for not using a turn signal…. but how often is that? I’d say more than 50% of the turns, lane changes, etc. made the driver doesn’t use the turn signal

Syd June 17, 2023 - 9:48 AM - 9:48 AM

Including Concord PD. Turn signals must be optional equipment on vehicles now.
How about expired registrations also, I see dozens daily…

Roz June 17, 2023 - 6:14 AM - 6:14 AM

@ IRENE ~
Noticed the same thing a awhile back. About 75% of Tesla’s don’t. I was told, two things can be done. Car can be ordered with holes in the front to house a license plate or there is a bracket add-on. Think a Tesla is fiberglass body. Maybe a Tesla owner will chime in and give info.

We have 6 vehicles currently registered not a one has or ever had a front plate since new all are 2017 or newer. Before that since at least 2001 none from then till 2017 had em either.
Never a ticket or warning.

Cyn June 17, 2023 - 8:18 PM - 8:18 PM

@Juryisout
Just out of curiosity, why didn’t you put the plates on the fronts of your vehicles?

Lou June 16, 2023 - 8:17 PM - 8:17 PM

About the pigs, You can apply for a permit to take wildlife causing crop or property damage through the CA Fish and Game under provisions of sections 401 and 402 Title 14, CCR. Good luck.

Pick One:
.
A) Chili Burger
B) Chili Dog
C) Bromo, Please

Dawg June 17, 2023 - 12:24 AM - 12:24 AM

B) With a Polish sausage and homemade chili, with chopped onions, and shredded pepper jack.

Well Folks June 17, 2023 - 9:43 AM - 9:43 AM

DAWG
Almost perfection on a bun. And what would make it perfect you ask? Well the sausage would be one of my Zedo’s home made klobasa of course. My Zedo was Slovak and raised a pig or 2 every year. He had a smoke house and smoke bacon, ham and made klobasa. He would thin out raspeberry and blackberry bushes and burn them with fruit still on and toss old apples in the fire as well. Nothing like home cured pork and the best was the klobasa

2
Roz June 17, 2023 - 6:20 AM - 6:20 AM

It would have been B, Chili Dog.
I eat much lighter now days.

Doremi June 17, 2023 - 8:38 AM - 8:38 AM

Why would I ruin a burger or hot dog with chili. I love chili, but keep these things separate! And no Bromo needed! Well maybe after
8:00 pm.

Well Folks June 17, 2023 - 9:46 AM - 9:46 AM

B, and like DAWG it would be a klobasa with chili (no beans), chopped onion, shredded pepper jack cheese and a couple of pepperoncinis for good measure

I miss going to the baseball game when it was just about baseball. I still remember how exciting it was on bat day. The A’s gave away green bats to kids. It was fun. Baseball should go back to the good old days of family fun. Why do they think it is important to have all these days that have nothing to do with baseball? Just play ball and have fun promotion days. Of course, not a good idea to give away bats now.

Jeff (the other one) June 17, 2023 - 5:37 AM - 5:37 AM

I agree, it has become more business than sport (and MLB is one of the “woke” corporations). I understand the business part of it, and the players wanting to be paid, a lot of toll on the body, and a lot of time traveling, but unfortunately, because of the business aspect, it has become a luxury product more than just entertainment. By that I mean it is excessively pricey to take a family to a game for a few hours. As far as the minibats, always thought those were the neatest things. I do counter your thought about not being a good idea to give away with this thought, perhaps if more people on BART had minibats, hooligans would think twice about commiting some of the crimes they do (then again, they could up their game with larger, “assault style” bats).

Private Snafu June 17, 2023 - 6:54 PM - 6:54 PM

Jeff, these were not the mini bats. These were little league size. You could actually use them. Times have changed.

Jeff (the other one) June 18, 2023 - 6:18 AM - 6:18 AM

sounds awesome, I only recall minibats (for Sox/Cubs). That would be a heck of a give away, nice collectible to hang on the wall…

Holes pole bean leaves caused by Spotted Cucumber Beetle.
https://uwm.edu/field-station/spotted-cucumber-beetle/
.
Don’t use pesticides, instead use diatomaceous earth, about an inch in plastic cup.
Their defense mechanism when the perceive a threat is to free fall towards ground.
Hold cup under leaf they’re on then bring other hand near them and they free fall into cup.
Once coated in diatomaceous earth even if they manage to get out they die.
Reduces population to near zero.
.
Great fun for Great Grandson, he spots ’em, I dispatch ’em.
